Michel Massot (Belgien) Tuba

Tuba player Michel MASSOT studied at the Liege Conservatory.
He was involved very soon with the avant garde musical scene, a.o. with Garrett LIST, Henri POUSSEUR, Jean-Pierre PEUVION, etc...
. He founded Trio BRAVO with saxophonist Fabrizio CASSOL and drummer Michel DEBRULLE, and started to play the trombone as well. The trio recorded several albums and played at many festivals. With the replacement of Fabrizio CASSOL by French saxophonist Laurent DEHORS, the trio was renamed TRIO GRANDE.
Michel MASSOT participated in various groups such as: LA GRANDE FORMATION a.o. with Garrett LIST, VARIATIONS ON A LOVE SUPREME with Kris DEFOORT and Fabrizio CASSOL Tribute to Jaco PASTORIUS (Michel HATZIGEORGIOU) ACT BIG BAND Kris DEFOORT's DREAMTIME etc... ´
He also played in the soundtrack of the movie JUST FRIENDS, written by Michel HERR.
These days, Michel MASSOT is more and more active on the European scene. He played a.o. with : Claude BARTHELEMY (gt, F) -with Gary VALENTE (tb), Sofia DOMANCICH (p), Evan PARKER (sax), Helene LABARRIERE (b), Christof LAUER (ts), Wolfgang PUSCHNIG (as)- "TOUS DEHORS", the big band of French saxophonist Laurent DEHORS Rabih Abouh KHALIL Klaus K…NIG Orchestra -with Louis SCLAVIS (cl), Kenny WHEELER (tp), Simon NABATOV (p), Tom RAINEY-, etc...
He recently did solo performances as well as duos with trombone player Geoffroy DE MASURE. Michel MASSOT also plays with Michel DEBRULLE's band Reve d'Elephant, with a.o. Laurent BLONDIAU (tp), Pierre BERNARD (fl) and Jean-Yves EVRARD (gt) (CD Racines du Ciel Werf 026).
He founded the band BATHYSCAPHE 5 (CD) and occasionnally plays with the ICTUS Ensemble.
Michel MASSOT teaches at the Liege Conservatory.
