KROYT released their second album, "LOW", in 1999 on the bp label in Norway.
The album includes the single "Shall I Forget?". "LOW" has been met with excellent
reviews, and it also won a Norwegian Grammy award (Spellemannprisen) in 1999.
KROYT was also rewarded with the "Edvardprice" for the composition "SILENT".
KROYT is pop music for the future, and challenges traditional notions of genre.
KROYT is vibrant, richly textured improvised music in a well-timed format. Music
that hits the hunger spot and places demands on the listener.
KROYT compose their own material, using lyrics by both Norwegian and Anglophone
lyricists.
KROYT was formed in '93, releasing their acclaimed debut CD "SUB" in '97 on
the Norwegian label Curling Legs Productions.
The band has toured in Norway and Sweden, playing clubs and the main festivals,
as well as appearing on T.V. and radio.
KROYT played at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, the Molde Int. Jazz Festival,
and Nefertiti in Gothenburg, Sweden, during the summer of '99. KROYT went on
an extended your in the spring of 2000, giving festival concerts in Cologne,
New York and Detroit during May and June. January 2000 KROYT released the music
video: "Shall I Forget" (a production by Kaliber/Brynja Steingrimsdottir), which
rotates on MTV's Alternative Nation and MTV Nordic during the summer 2000.
Musically, the band members have gained their experience from settings as various
as Rokia Traure, Kvitretten, Erlend Skomsvoll, Motorpsycho, Dingobats, Dadafon,
Spacebopcircus, Tre Sma Kinesere, and Brazz Bros.
