Jagdish
Mistry was born in Bombay where he began his violin studies and emigrated to
England in 1975 to study at the Menuhin School.
His teachers there included David Takeno with whom further studies were completed
at the Guildhall School in London.
Between 1986 and 1992 Jagdish led the Mistry String Quartet. During this time
the quartet held a residency at the University of York and made recordings of
music by Elgar, Bax and Elizabeth Maconchy.
In 1994 Jagdish was invited to join the Ensemble Modern, of which he is a member.
In 1993 Jagdish also began to build a relationship with the London Musici as
guest Concertmaster with whom he has toured and appeared as soloist. Since 1997
he has been guest concertmaster also with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada.
